A Mid Life Crisis... or your Uranus Opposition?

Artwork: Unknown

Turning 40 inspired me to take a sneak peak at my upcoming Uranus Opposition which happens around 40-43 (it will be 43 for me) for most of us… although a lot of us start to feel the pressure earlier 🙋‍♀️. We can get REAL hard on ourselves. Question our accomplishments and what it all means. Or just feel a sense of pressure, the need to break free or general heaviness.

Within Human Design

While it doesn't change our foundational chart in Human Design it does show us what themes and new perspectives will come up which can be pretty exciting. Mine showed easier communication from my emotional center, self and heart; working with the energy of the Manifestor, a 6/2 profile and different themes up for me in my Sun gates to name some of the biggies.

It can be helpful and inspiring to know what you’re working with and can really shift that whole “mid life crisis” vibe and prepare you for what’s to come. Just the words ‘mid life crisis’ comes with glaring stereotypes… buying the fancy car, divorce, dating younger, sudden job changes, rash decisions etc.. but the reality is we all go through our Uranus Opposition and having some knowledge around it can result in a more healthy channeling of and patience with the energy. Through this we can truly utilize our new found strengths, perspecitves and energies to their fullest potential, as well as recognize some potential pitfalls. Awareness can help us to discern the energy, process it, move with it rather than against it.

  • Sidenote to those with a strong 6 line in their profile | The Role Model. For these folks their Saturn Return around age 28 (and Chiron around age 50) will be more significant as they have the three distinct stages in your life. And knowing what’s coming up for you there can be extra beneficial, although you will have a Uranus Opposition as well.

Uranus is all about change.

Let’s talk about Uranus It’s exciting energy when we can ride the waves. It is an energy that prompts us to change. It can come in and shake things up and shift our consciousness or we can fight it and it can tear things apart.

When we don’t flow with the energy of Uranus or try to suppress it we can experience negative effects like feelings of chaos, depression, accidents, distress etc.. But we can also harness this intensity and work with it to course correct where we may be off our path or living inauthentically or homogenized as Uranus shows us in our chart we we express our unusualness.

It also depends on how you deal with change. Only you know if you’re someone who typically embraces it or someone who feels uncomfortable, fears it, or is taken off their center.

North Node + South Node

In addition to the opposition around this time we also begin to shift perspective within our Nodes. Our Nodes represent how our lives play out, then lens through which we see the world, and the environments we experience that support us living out our own unique purpose.

We can get cozy comfy in our South Node vibes where our energy tends to default. As we start to look more closely at our North Node energy it can be downright uncomfortable; but this is our destination.

Our South Node represents that developmental energy, how we mature until we reach our Uranus Opposition. Our transition at this time as a 9 centered being is symbolic of our entry into adulthood. Maybe I’ll stop feeling like a kid adulting now. 😉

Our North Node is our mature stage of experiencing life. On the Mind side of our Design the Nodes shows us the themes of how we think about the world. On the Body side we get to see how we perceive our relationship to our environment and the people within it.

Knowing what gates reside in each can help us unpack it. As we step more toward who we are becoming in this life; we are integrating both our past and our future into a more fully realized whole journey.

purpose

These times of Returns + Opposition are all about understanding and more fully embodying our life’s purpose. Who did we come here to be? What did we come here to learn? To do?

We can dive deep into this through our Incarnation Cross. Our Incarnation Cross outlines what our biggest theme is for this particular human experience on Earth. Going into the deeper meaning of our Cross in a reading focused on our purpose can help us to relax into who we came here to be, give us permission. Following our Strategy + Authority will get us there in the end whether we know or not.

We can take this ‘mid-life’ time to reevaluate what we truly want. If the path we’re on is still the one we wanna keep on trucking along or if it’s time for a shift. Where are the areas in our life where we want to break free? Are we truly living or just going through the paces?

This time can turn us inside out and and it can be hard to know which way is up. Our Human Design can help us with guide posts, tools and the right prompts and keynotes to dive deeper; to truly see, to be prepared so we can make informed choices and then let go and let live.
