Mercury Retrograde Support

When a planet goes retrograde it gives the illusion of moving backward. As a result, it can sometimes feel like a forced slow down. It can feel extra intense when it is Mercury (the trickster/magician) because it rules our day to day. Mercury resides over communication, short-distance travel, the in-between, the ways we communicate and gather information (so tech, phones, computers), how we translate thought into language, media, how we express ourselves, etc..

Mercury Retrograde doesn’t need to be feared or demonized. We can slow down, find patience, have humor around the energy. We can take it as a time to be clear in our communication and to focus on activities that begin with the prefix re: restore, reevaluate, reinforce (good behaviors/new patterns) review, reflect, renew, etc..

And for those of you who don’t know what the rest of the world is going on about because you feel great during Mercury’s Retrograde, it’s quite possible you were born during one and therefore you feel sharper, clearer and more focused when Mercury is in Retrograde. But it doesn’t make you immune, so still, ya know, back up your hard drive.

Some folx experience the pre-Mercury Retrograde shadow (or post even) more intensely than the Retrograde itself. This usually begins a couple weeks before and ends a couple weeks after. Tread gently as we move into and out of the energy. As I type this my logo has mysteriously disappeared from my site, even through it’s still there on the backend. This is one of those things I’ll give a couple days to just sort itself out before even attempting to fix. Because there’s nothing wrong, it’s just Mercury having a bit of fun.



some ways to support yourself + create ease

  • clean out that junk drawer, closet, corner you’ve been meaning to get to.

  • reorganize what needs it.

  • pause before you react.

  • give yourself extra time to get to the airport or to important appointments

  • service your car beforehand

  • go deep. listen to the inner truths that so want to be heard. pay attention. get curious. 

  • skip or be extra mindful when signing any contracts or starting new projects (but it’s a great time to follow through on ones you’ve already began).

  • be clear in your communication and hold space for misunderstandings.

  • check in with yourself and make sure what you’re doing, who you’re with, the path you’re on is still the one you want.

  • take time for radical rest, renewal, restoration. cancel plans. say no. stay in. turn off your phone, read that just for fun book you’ve been meaning to get around to, soak your feet, soak your body, wear your favorite cozy clothes, meal prep nourishing foods.

  • bring consciousness and clarity to the things, words, stories, narratives, old patterns you want to let go of.

  • be patient when old traumas and wounds resurface to be healed on a deeper level. 

  • listen when it’s clear that it’s time to close certain doors + set healthy boundaries. 

  • re-read it before you send the email.

  • find humor in the times it glitches your computer or suddenly you can’t get your phone to work. take it as a sweet sign to slow down + take some deep breaths.

  • embrace and invite ease into the chaos.

  • try to have patience and practice acceptance when you miss an appointment, flight, your train is delayed, etc... and know that it’s not this bad. :)

  • reconnect to your roots

  • explore your Mercury. See where mercury is in your astral chart (house + sign) to find out how (sign) and where (house) your communication is focused. Check out your Human Design body graph to see what gates are in Mercury (where your gifts and lessons in communication lie)

  • Look to the sign Mercury stationed retrograde to see what area of your life will be most affected (ESPECIALLY if Mercury is your Timelord this year).

  • Explore your Throat definition.

  • finish your unfinished business. cross off items that have been on your to-do list for awhile before beginning anything new.
